Green Building

It’s just sound practice

Regardless of your position on the causes of global warming, we can all agree that our natural resources are finite. We welcome the revived ‘green’ movement that is upon us, and believe it is here to stay. Building ‘green’ not only has a moral context, but it is also just sound business practice. If we can make a home more efficient, reduce environmental impact, and in the process create a home that is not only a healthier home to live in, but also cheaper to operate and maintain, why wouldn’t we?

Now a recognized standard for high performance green building, EarthCraft House is the only green building program to receive NAHB’s Green Building Program of the Year award twice, in 2OO4 and again in 2OO7.

That is why Evergreen has become an EarthCraft certified builder, and promotes efficient and environmentally friendly construction methods whenever possible. From passive solar design, rain water management and harvesting, use of lumber derived from sustainable forestry, use of recycled and recyclable materials, cutting edge insulation methods, use of high efficiency windows, installing Energy Star appliances, use of ‘high performance’ HVAC systems with manual J load calculations as mandatory, less invasive site preparation, and ‘water hardy’ landscape design, we can build homes that have far less impact than homes even 2-3 years ago. We now have the means and technology to do it better… no excuses.

We haven’t had a better experience in building or remodeling. Having built three homes previously, we believe this experience with Evergreen was by far the best... Their honesty, integrity, and willingness to please the customer are what we admire.
