A Chic Shop in an Old Space

In the fall of 2010, Evergreen was presented a unique opportunity to collaborate in a commercial renovation for a new retail boutique specializing in high end woman’s metropolitan fashion, known as ‘Bittersweet’. The owners wanted to maintain the historic nature of the existing space by exposing the brick wall beneath that had been covered in plaster over countless store change overs since 1910. Evergreen reinforced and largely rebuilt the existing structural floor system over the existing basement area, and then installed hardwood flooring throughout the space. Next we upgraded an outdated wiring system, and then constructed an employee office area along with two customer bathrooms. A modern lighting package took advantage of the high ceilings and helped to accentuate the ‘warehouse’ feel of the sealed brick. What we were left with is a space that takes full advantage of its historic feel in order to showcase high end clothing. It’s a space that you want to stay in.
