Locust Historic Renovation

A Historic Gem Is Preserved, while being Revitalized and Updated for the Future

Our clients loved their home in the historic district of Locust Avenue in Charlottesville, but they were ready to undertake a major renovation. To restore the exterior of the home to its former glory we removed aluminum siding that had been placed on the house sometime in the early seventies. This exposed beautiful, long forgotten, yellow pine siding and mahogany window sills.  Next, we replaced the standing seam metal roof and stabilized the home’s two primary chimneys, and installed custom operable shutters.  We also dismantled the home’s aged concrete stairs, and replaced them with a 6′ wide elegant wooden (Ipe) staircase with custom rod iron railing more in keeping with the original style of the home.

We set out to update the interior of the home by installing formal closets in both upstairs bedrooms and retrofit gas fireplace inserts into the two chimneys. Lastly, the owners were ready for the master bath to undergo a complete demo & custom makeover. We and our clients are proud of the project’s outcome, and appreciate the opportunity to save a piece of our history for the community of Charlottesville.

You [Evergreen] have been an integral part of our team and played a major role in the success of our Wintergreen Community. Without a doubt you have exceeded our expectations in all the areas we have worked together.
