An Aging Deck to New Entertainment Space
Our clients living in Crozet, Virginia purchased their home six years ago, and inherited a boring and aging deck from the previous owners. The rear deck was too small to be truly functional, and had started to show the signs of age. The rear yard was rather limited due to size and steep grade, but they had a view we could take advantage of if the layout was done properly. Answer? Let’s create a custom screen porch and attached deck entertaining area, with an exposed aggregate concete sitting area below. Why not save the view for the patio below, by turning the stairs around a landing area, and then using that space as dryspace storage? What we came up with is a highly user friendly family gathering area fit for large scale entertaining. The patio below is the perfect spot to hide while catching a few pages of that book you have been meaning to read. The screen porch above has been prepared for a flat screen television, as well as a custom track lighting package that is completely hidden in a ceiling tray. The porch columns are terminated to three foot brick pier columns capped with custom cut blue stone. This detail maintains a formal appeal that is more in keeping with the original home. The standing seam metal roof future enhances the porch’s appeal. We are excited for the furniture to arrive!
I have been in my home for over nine months and I am most pleased with the quality and workmanship that went into it.Bettie Makel - Nellysford, VANew Construction
